Director and Choreographer Notes
This year has been an emotional rollercoaster to get to this point. With the unavoidable closure of the theatre it was decided, with sadness, that the panto would be unable to go ahead this Christmas. Surrey Heath Borough council then took stock, rallied round and committed to carrying out the work in order to deliver panto to you lovely folk of Camberley. Planning panto is an all year round project, so it was then the challenge of pulling every element together in a short space of time to ensure we give you everything you have come to know and love from our annual panto. The theatre staff have been working around the clock to get the building ready to welcome our audiences back. Whilst the creatives and cast have been dancing under ladders, singing over hammers and drills and rehearsing in any nook and cranny that wasn’t occupied by builders. My aim is always to deliver you a fun, fast paced, family friendly panto and this year is no exception. The classic tale of Snow White with our unique Camberley twist. Sit back enjoy the show and thank you for choosing us. Merry Christmas.
When choreographing panto I find it important to keep things fresh and exciting whilst still thinking about what makes a panto traditional. It’s an art form that has been around for 100’s of years and deserves to be respected as such. We work with a very strong ensemble in Camberley who are not only fabulous dancers but also fabulous singers and actors. This year is a real mash up of styles. We have a little bit of something for everyone. Hopefully you will all walk out humming along to the songs and carry that fun Christmassy spirit with you through the rest of the holiday season.
