CT Eco-Initiatives 

At Camberley Theatre, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and ensuring our activities remain sustainable in future.  We have taken many steps over the last seven years to achieve this, including:

  • We have introduced fully compostable alternatives to single-use items. This includes coffee cups and ‘plastic’ cups. We use a PLA alternative for our single use cold cups and PLA lined cups for our hot drinks. Both are fully compostable and biodegradable.
  • We have replaced single-use plastic bottles with eco-friendly alternatives. Items such as canned water and draught soft drinks can be found on our menus in their place.
  • We installed waterless urinals and dual flush toilets in 2017, reducing our annual water consumption by approximately 1800 cubic metres per year. That's the equivalent of 1.8 million litres!
  • We installed LED lighting throughout all Front of House areas and our auditorium currently runs on approximately 90% LED. We are continuing to move to LED in our auditorium as fixtures need replacing.

Carbon Offsetting

We encourage customers and staff to minimise car travel to and from the theatre and car share where possible. However, we do recognise that this may not be possible for everyone. 

We have partnered with the UK Social Enterprise, Ecologi, to offer audiences the opportunity to offset the carbon impact of their journey to and from the theatre. This partnership supports tree planting and carbon offsetting projects around the world. You can find out about some of the projects Ecologi supports on their website.  The projects include:

  • Building renewable energy plants in countries such as Indonesia and Uganda
  • Preserving forests in Guatemala and Papua New Guinea
  • Restoring wildflowers, wetlands and wildlife to the United Kingdom
  • Restoring blue carbon ecosystems
  • Generating solar power in Morrocco 
  • and much more!

Tree planting by the Eden Reforestation Projects who work with local communities to plant trees globally.  To date, Ecologi have planted over 81 million trees and avoided 3.2 tonnes of Co2 emissions!

What difference does my £1 make?

By choosing “offset my journey” for each show purchased, you can offset the equivalent CO2 emissions from your travel to the theatre. Your donation will be used to plant trees, fund carbon removal projects or carbon avoidance schemes. How do I get involved and donate?

Once you have added tickets to your basket and you go to Checkout, you will be offered the chance to donate £1 to Ecologi by adding the CO2 Offset to your basket. Camberley Theatre will donate 100% of these donations to Ecologi each month on your behalf. If you are booking over the phone or in person, please ask a member of the team to add this to your booking for you.
